Universal Children’s Day – 20th November 2015

Universal Children’s Day – 20th November 2015

Children in Year 5 at St Margaret's School have been thinking about children’s rights and responsibilities.
We started by looking at our right to relax and compared our ideas of how to relax with how children relax in other countries. We had lots of ideas about how we relax - playing video games, playing football, going to the park with friends, reading a book....
We then looked at other children’s rights and thought about which we felt were the most important and why.
We learnt that UNICEF is an organisation that aims to protect children’s rights and that 20th November is Universal Children’s Day. To promote it, we all made ‘Kites for Rights’, which we shared with Year 6.

Our kites are now displayed around school, so that we can all understand about children’s rights.

What do children in your school like to do to relax? What rights do you think children should have? We'd love to hear your ideas!

#HER VOICE

Thank you for all of the lovely photos. It's brilliant to see inside the classroom. The children look like they are working hard. Next week, we are going to be supporting

 #her voice

This movement is about giving back India her voice and supporting people that don’t have the same rights as us, especially women, children and the poor. So we are going to set up a photo booth and send message to the global community! We can stand united!

Many thanks
