Universal Children’s Day – 20th November 2015
Universal
Children’s Day – 20th November 2015
Children in Year 5 at St Margaret's School have been thinking about
children’s rights and responsibilities.
We
started by looking at our right to relax and compared our ideas of how to relax
with how children relax in other countries. We had lots of ideas about how we relax - playing video games, playing football, going to the park with friends, reading a book....
We then looked at other children’s rights and thought about
which we felt were the most important and why.
We learnt that UNICEF is an organisation that aims to protect
children’s rights and that 20th November is Universal Children’s
Day. To promote it, we all made ‘Kites for Rights’, which we shared with Year
6.
Our kites are now displayed around school, so that we can all understand about children’s rights.
What do children in your school like to do to relax? What rights do you think children should have? We'd love to hear your ideas!
